Financial aid for producers of tomatoes for processing

Producers of tomatoes for processing will receive financial aid of 1516.6 EUR per hectare, according to an Executive Decision adopted on the Government meeting, which establishes the general framework for the granting of transitional payments for tomatoes destined for processing, through payment mechanisms compliant with the Common Agricultural Policy, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mihail Dumitru has announced.
Agriculture Minister has stated that the total amount earmarked for this support mechanism is 869,000 EUR, of which the financial aid will be paid for approximately 573 hectares.
This form of backing the producers of tomatoes destined for processing is applied in Romania too, as in all European countries, under Council Regulations (EC) for establishing some common rules for direct aid systems for farmers. Aid scheme was introduced by all Member States since 2008 and will be enforced for the period 2008-2011.
The Financial aid that producers of tomatoes for processing will benefit from is charged for the previous year, ie 2009 for eligible producers who have requested this form of aid and, when tested, it has been proved that they are entitled to receive it.
