Financial aid for Romanian producers of milk and dairy products
Milk and dairy products producers delivering annually large amounts of 10,000 kilograms of products will receive a differentiated financial aid, depending on the amount of milk delivered to the market, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Mihail Dumitru has announced.
Romania's total budget for this support mechanism is approximately 5 million EUR and will be financed from the European Fund of Agricultural Guarantee.
The Government has approved on its today’s meeting, an Executive decision to create national legal framework for earmarking this aid to milk and dairy products’ producers, aid financed from European funds and destined for farms or individuals in this area, affected by the crisis in the dairy sector.
Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development has stated that the financial aid is granted for 2008 -2009 quota year, and the deadline for applications for obtaining this aid is May 14th, 2010.
Financial aid enjoyed by producers in this area is different in 4 categories, depending on the amount of milk delivered to market as:
• For producers delivering annually to market between 10,000 to 20,000 kg of milk, the financial aid is 200 EUR per farm. In this situation, there are approximately 5,700 producers and the total amount earmarked to this segment is 1.142 million EUR.
• For producers delivering annually to market between 20,001 to 200,000 kg of milk and dairy products, the aid is between 236 and 2360 EUR / farm, depending on the amount of food. The number of producers is 5154 and the total sum earmarked to this segment is 546.000 EUR;
• For those who annually deliver over 200,001 to 500,000 kg of products, namely 273 producers, the financial aid will be 2,000 EUR per farm;
• And those who overrun the amount of 500,000 kg annually, namely 140 producers will receive 1200 EUR each;
Producers of milk and dairy products, delivering products to market are eligible for financial assistance if they meet all the following requirements:
• are authorized legal entities or individuals, certified by the registration certificate from Trade Registry;
• are enrolled in the quota system at the Agency for Payments and Intervention for Agriculture as producers with milk delivery quotas for the quota year 2008-2009;
• Producers are in business on March 31, 2010, and delivered milk production per farm is greater than 10,000 kg of milk;
