Theme: Executive Meeting from 18.06.2008

On today's meeting, the Government has adopted a draft law for the ratification of the Agreement between the Government of Romania and the Government of Norway on police cooperation, signed in Oslo, on March 14th 2008

The Agreement contributes to the establishment and development of an adequate framework for cooperation between competent authorities from Romania and those from Norway Kingdom.
Thus, the Agreement includes provisions pertaining to fields and forms of cooperation, competent authorities designated to enforce the document provisions, specific cooperation forms in the field of combating organized crime, illicit trafficking of drugs and precursors, as well as in the field of fighting illegal migration and persons trafficking, provisions on personal data protection and classified information, provisions on the refusal of assistance, modalities to solve the disputes, provisions pertaining to the entering into force and the denunciation of Agreement.
The cooperation is achieved through exchange of information and experience, creation of some joint teams and exchange of specialists, formation and training of personnel and consists in coordinating measures or agreed operations, following of persons, objects as well as through identification of persons or corpses with unknown identity.
On the Romanian part, the competent authorities are represented by the Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reform and on the Norwegian part, by the Ministry of Justice and Police and the National Directorate of Police.
