PM Victor Ponta conveys his entire compassion to the families of Romanians who died in the tragic accident in Montenegro, and assures that Romanian authorities are currently taking all necessary measures to assist the injured
"I hugely regret what happened in Montenegro, and I want to offer my condolences and full sympathy to the bereaved families who are going now through some extremely difficult times. I want to give assurances that the Government will do everything in its power to provide the necessary help to overcome this moment, to both families and authorities involved. Such a tragedy is a hard test for all Romanians, and in such moments, the most important is to be united and in solidarity. "
The Prime Minister has announced that, since last evening, from the time of the bus crash, he ordered measures for the direct involvement of the Romanian authorities. We have permanently kept in touch with the Montenegrin authorities and since yesterday there were provided aircrafts for transport to and from Montenegro. There was authorized the arrival there of a medical delegation headed by State Secretary Raed Arafat and there is still readiness to bring home in the best conditions, the wounded who may be transported - this decision will be taken on -site.
The Government, through its structures will support the bereaved families and also will continue to provide all necessary information to the relatives of those involved in the tragic accident.
There will be continued the joint efforts of the authorities of the two countries, and the operational teams of Romania, who are on-site for medical assistance, rehabilitation and transportation home. Currently, the Ministry of Defence made available two aircrafts, bound for Podgorica, to assist in the repatriation of those involved in the bus crash, with the agreement of authorities in Montenegro.
The Prime Minister has also announced that Minister of Foreign Affairs Titus Corlăţean canceled his participation in the CAE and CAG in Luxembourg and is to make an emergency visit to Podgorica to coordinate on-site the activities carried out by the operational team from Romania.
Romanian Government also thanks the Government of Montenegro, and the citizens in the area for their important support and assistance, and for the solidarity they showed in the wake of this tragic accident. The way how citizens from Podgorica got involved to help, including by donating blood for the crash victims is truly remarkable.
Regarding the causes of this crash, the Government will quickly make all necessary checks to determine whether the company involved in organizing transportation complied with all legal requirements for safety.
