Theme: Executive Meeting from 09.03.2010
Press statements by PM Emil Boc at the end of the Executive meeting
I will refer to two important decisions that Executive has made today. The first decision pertains to the declassification by the Government of Romania, through Executive Decision, of the latest data and information in the Revolution dossier of 1989.
Practically, through the Executive Decision which we have adopted today, we declassified documents in the file of the Revolution of 1989 which were rated as "state secret", "secret" and "top secret", according to legal provisions in force. From this moment, because such information disclosed may not harm national security, defense of the country, public order or the interests of public or private persons, after publication in the Official Gazette they can be accessed by interested parties. In this way, we take a very important step to ensure all necessary information so that file of the 1989 Revolution has as much transparency as possible from the perspective of the role of state authorities, and the truth can be validated on the basis of documents that are classified at present.
I thank Minister Oprea, Minister of National Defense, for the efficiency with which he met such a request and for the presentation today of the Draft Executive Decision on the declassification of the last documents from the Revolution file, so that they can serve the public interest and truth finding.
Secondly, today, we approved through memorandum the finalization of the electrification of villages and towns without electricity at present. Via the decision made today, I mandated the Ministry of Economy for the period 2010 - 2012, through own investments of Ministry, of Electrica especially, to complete the electrification of about 100 thousand households without electricity, which are currently in Romania.
In 2010, we still have 97 localities in Romania, that are not electrified and we have around 2,000 isolated hamlets without electricity. The investment value is around 225 million EUR for 2010, 2011 and 2012, when the entire approach aimed at the electrification of housing, households in Romania, especially in rural areas is to be completed.
