Statements by PM Victor Ponta at the end of his visit to Germany

First of all, at the end of the visit to Germany, I want to express a personal satisfaction for the fact that all discussions I had, starting from the extremely important ones, of economic nature, meeting from Deutsche Bank in Berlin, meeting with representatives of big German companies, and visit to Daimler, in Stuttgart, meeting with Bosch representatives, with the other companies willing to invest in Romania – represented an extremely positive message which I did not only convey but also received from German investors. They have a better opinion about Romania, they trust, they continue their investments, other investments will also follow, and obviously, the things they ask in return are absolutely legitimate, namely: legislative stability in tax field, and in the business field, less bureaucracy, straight working mode as we worked with Daimler through Minister delegate for large projects, encouraging vocational education, the agreement I signed here, in Stuttgart to develop an educational system much more adapted to the labor market and their needs. Therefore, I repeat, first of all, in the economic area, the messages were positive and I am duty bound to prove and us to further prove that Romania is a country where there should and can be made profitable investments.
Politically, yesterday’s discussion with Madam Chancellor Merkel, with political representatives of the Federal Government started from the fact that Romania became again a partner not only important but also trustworthy of Germany, in Europe and across the region, from the fact that there is political stability and predictability in the country, about the role Romania can and should play, being a large country, a stronger one than some time ago, in the region. And especially, we discussed enough about Moldova, about the efforts both at European level and especially of Romania to keep to a pro- European track, and about our extremely great desire to have at the Vilnius Summit, an association agreement between the European Union and Moldova, all necessary agreements, not only about those pertaining to Moldova, but about the rest of the region, the energy policy and Romania’s energy dependence and our unconditional support for Serbia, for the other Western Balkans countries to go further on the European path.
Surely, each will define this visit as he believes and considers. In my view, we attained all objectives and it remains for the Executive I am leading to confirm further on this positive development/…/
