The first internship program in central public administration


On Monday, July 15, 2013, there started at the initiative of Prime Minister Victor Ponta, the first internship program in the central public administration, run by the Romanian Government. Thus, for two months (July 15 to September 15), 25 young people selected from over 900 applicants will participate in activities within several departments of the PM Chancellery and the Secretariat General of the Government, as follows:
•PM Chancellery: Press Office, Office of the Spokesperson; Externally Funded Projects and Programs Division, State Adviser on healthcare issues, Prime Minister's personal adviser on social issues; International Relations Division, Directorate for Governmental Strategies, Public Relations Directorate, Online Services and Design Directorate, High Representative for the Republic of Moldova.
• Secretariat - General: Public Policies Directorate, Audit, Control and Inter-institutional Relations Division, Legal and Human Resources Directorate, Government sessions Directorate;
In their first day of internship, the youngsters were greeted at the Victoria Palace by Prime Minister Victor Ponta, who wanted to wish them success and to emphasize that this program is an opportunity for both young people who can develop such a career in public administration and for this sector which benefiting from the enthusiasm and flexibility of young generation can increase their competitiveness.
Trainees are from 17 localities in Romania and went through two rounds of selection: selection of files and interview. Selecting the shortlist of 75 candidates who were interviewed represented a thorough process, based on assessment of academic training quality, of the motivation, assimilation and development potential, language and IT skills and professional experience of the candidates. In the second stage, the interviewing committee assessed ingenuity, spontaneity, degree of adaptability, determination, persuasiveness, positive thinking, and practicality, potential for integration and assimilation capacity of each of the 75 candidates.
Selection of the final list relied only on the level of academic preparation and development potential of each candidate.
