The Government simplified the way of granting the rent subsidy, that the foreigners who acquired a protection form in Romania, can benefit of
On the 18th of August meeting, the Executive adopted a decision to remove the local authorities' obligation to bring the quantum of the subsidy granted to foreigners who benefit of this aid, to the value of the average rent in the locality where the dwelling was rented.
According to the Government Ordinance no. 44/2004, the foreigners who acquired a protection form in Romania, and attended the integration program, and they have not received a social dwelling from the local authorities yet, can solicit a subsidy of up to 50% of their dwelling rent for a maximum of one year period.
In the actual legislation, the enforcement of this provision is conditional on determining the average rent in the locality where the respective person has rented the dwelling. The average rent should be evaluated by the local authorities.
The new regulations remove a stage in determining the sum granted as rent subsidy to foreigners and streamline this aid granting, given the fact that determining the average rent by local authorities will not represent a condition for the implementation of these provisions.
