Dan Sova, Minister Delegate for infrastructure projects of national interest and foreign investment: I am backing the Iasi -Targu Mures highway construction

With respect to the press allegations these days, according to which, I would not support the Iasi -Targu Mures highway construction, I make the following clarifications:
The respective statements are untrue. I have never made a statement to back these allegations. On the contrary, I consider the construction of the Iasi – Targu Mures motorway as being a necessity and I am clearly backing this infrastructure objective. The construction of this highway would be beneficial not only to unite Moldova to Transylvania, but it could take over the entire traffic of the Euro-Asian space to EU states.
My statements, incriminated by a central daily referred strictly to the issue of the funding sources for this project, the respective highway is not on the route of Pan-European Corridors 4 and 9, which benefit from European funding. Also, the traffic studies show that the route aimed at for achieving the project, would have the traffic level below that of a highway, thing which makes difficult finding an investor.
As a conclusion, I will openly back the Iasi – Targu Mures highway and all necessary steps for finding the funding sources necessary to achieve this project.
