"George Enescu" International Festival will take place in September this year, and the "George Enescu" competition, 2014 edition will be held next year, in September

The management of Ministry of Culture and the Organizing Committee of the "George Enescu"Festival and International Competition have reviewed the budget proposed by the Government through the Ministry of Culture as well as the structure and schedule of the 2013 edition. Since the Festival budget is mostly covered by the Romanian Government, amid current economic conditions, its construction has been redesigned so that Romania should continue to hold this event at international standards, facilitating a unique cultural exchange between Romanian artists and culture and world cultural heritage.
Romanian Government as producer of the Festival is joined by Bucharest Municipality that will contribute with an amount from its own budget to the funds necessary for Festival. We have also studied the possibility to continue attracting funds from private sources, since there is interest from some companies in this respect.
The festival will take place from 1 to 28 September 2013, hosting 150 performances of music, opera and ballet in Bucharest and other cultural centers in the country: Arad, Bacau, Brasov, Cluj, Iasi, Sibiu and Timisoara.
Following this analysis, there has been decided to rethink the structure and the organization of the "George Enescu" International Competition. In this respect, there has been decided to postpone this year's edition of the competition for the same period next year so that it takes place every two years, alternating with editions of "George Enescu" Festival. This change in the competition schedule will not affect its standards, but is intended to enable them to improve, given financial and logistical effort that such an approach requires.
Since the entries for the "George Enescu" Competition, 2013 edition have not begun by the time of this analysis, shifting event will not prejudice potential competitors.
"George Enescu" International Festival remains to the attention of the Government and the Ministry of Culture as a priority of cultural policy and for support of country cultural brand.
