PM Emil Boc has met with Mr. Roland Lohkamp, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Romania. The need for a strengthened European policy and a common voice of the European Union on energy, notably amid the circumstances created by the natural gas crisis has been one of the topics tackled during the meeting.
“The promotion of the European common interest with respect to ensuring the energy resources is the best solution', PM Boc has stated emphasizing the decisive importance of a strengthened European common policy on this matter. The Romanian PM has reiterated the importance of completing the Nabucco pipeline project and argued for a more active involvement of the European community in this respect.
The Head of the Executive has praised the very good relations between Romania and Germany and the high volume of bilateral trade that made Germany the most important Romanian partner by commercial exchanges in 2008. The two officials have also tackled a range of topics of common interest pertaining to the continuation of German investment in Romania, in the transport infrastructure included, the cooperation in the Danube and Black Sea area as well as EU-related issues.
