Prime Minister Victor Ponta has met today at Victoria Palace with representatives of some of the associations representing the rights of blind persons in Romania (Romanian Association of the Blind, Romanian War Blind Invalids Association and the Romanian National Disability Council).
Discussions have focused on issues faced by blind persons, in an attempt to identify optimal solutions for solving them. Prime Minister Victor Ponta has expressed his support and willingness for dialogue with all organizations advocating for the protection and promotion of disabled persons’ rights in the spirit of the Government's efforts to ensure the observance of the dignity and rights of this category of citizens.
The meeting was attended by Mariana Câmpeanu, Minister of Labour, Family, Social Protection and Elderly(MMFPSPV), and Codrin Scutaru Secretary of State Coordinator of MMFPSPV social assistance and discussions on this issue will be resumed tomorrow at the Ministry HQ.

Note: Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Protection and the Elderly approved by Order no. 399/27.02.2013, Methodology for earmarking the amounts from the state budget through the Ministry, to the organizations referred to in art. 98 of Law no. 448/2006 on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, republished, with subsequent amendments. The mentioned legislative act was issued to address the difficulties in granting these amounts generated by fiscal rigor covered in recent legislative changes in the field. Methodology for earmarking the amounts from the state budget, developed by MMFPSPV was discussed with representatives of organizations and their technical staff, the final form being agreed on February 27, 2013.
