The inquiry commission investigating the causes of the blast which occurred during the night from 6 to 7th of August 2001 at the Vulcan coal mine has assembled during the morning of 8th of August 2001 in order to establish the details of the paper documenting the causes of the Vulcan accident.

At present, the representatives of the Labour Inspection are checking whether the labour safety regulations have been obeyed at the moment of the shift change, prior the accident.

The inquiry commission, led by the Minister of Interior, Ioan Rus has decided to assemble again on August the 13th in Bucharest, at the Ministry of Interior in order to analyse the punctual reports concerning the Vulcan blast. During the meeting the report of the National Institute for Mining Safety will also be analysed.

The Hunedoara Prefecture will draw up a report containing information both on the Vulcan coal mine accident and on the general state of miners in the Jiu Valley.

The final paper of the inquiry commission will also include a report of the mining labour unions, a report of the representatives of the Hunedoara County Council, to be drawn up subsequent to the meeting with mayors in the Jiu Valley and a report of the District Attorney.

The final paper of the Commission will be presented during the following Cabinet meeting.
