Today, on the 14th of August 2001, the Romanian Prime Minister, Adrian Nastase, accompanied by the Romanian Foreign Minister, Mircea Geoana and by a series of Romanian officials is making a one-day official visit to Bulgaria. The Romanian delegation has been invited by the Bulgarian premiere, Simeon Saxkoburggotski.

The visit schedules a private meeting between the two premiers at the Berovat residence. During the afternoon Mr. Nastase will also meet the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Petar Stoianov.

The issues on the agenda of the Romanian and Bulgarian officials deal with the level of the bilateral relations, with regional cooperation and with the preparation stage of the two countries for EU and NATO membership.
It is also worth mentioning that the today's visit represent the first foreign policy action of the Bulgarian Prime Minister and the first visit of the Bucharest leader to a neighbouring country.
